More info after the break:
Are you interested in obtaining professional, hands-on experience before completing your MLIS degree? Or perhaps you’d like to ‘test drive’ a different type of library/information center environment. If so, consider completing a practicum during the final semester of your GSLIS program. It’s a great way to learn about the practical side of librarianship, and allows you to explore a specific aspect of the profession. It also provides you with the opportunity to interact and network with your fellow colleagues.
The practicum requires 120 hours of site work in addition to the academic component. Upon successful completion of LIS 799, students receive 3 semester hours of credit, which is applied toward the 12-class requirement for the Dominican MLIS degree.
