The Reference Librarians Association and Continuing Education Committee is hosting a free talk titled “The Producers in the Library: Production and Development at AADL.” The talk will be given by Eli Neiburger of the Ann Arbor District Library.
I saw Eli Neiburger talk on gaming in libraries and it was one of the best talks I have ever attended. If you are able to go, I would highly recommend it.

LISSA will be visiting the Alternative Press Center on Monday, October 5th at 2pm. According to the Alternative Press web page, their library “is a library with a social conscience, offering alternative perpectives and information that are often difficult to find in mainstream libraries.” The collection contains publications spanning from the 1960s to present day. On our tour we will discuss this unique collection with APC staff members. Space is limited, so EMAIL LISSA TODAY and reserve your space!

1. Social Events Committee: Oaktober fest is 9/18 and 9/19.
2. Pizza parties are 9/22, 10/21, and 11/19, 4-6 PM.
3. Faculty/LISSA Christmas party date is either 12/2 or 12/9.
B. Library Visit will be to the Alternative Press either on a Friday or a Modnay afternoon.
C. Publicity Committee: The Bulletin Board, Recruitment, Pizza Party, Poor Phil’s and Oaktober Fest recruitment flyers will all be redesigned before the beginning of Fall Semester.

“Looking to hone your skills as a storytime provider, and learn more about developing early literacy? The Oak Park Public Library Children’s Department is seeking two Storytime Outreach Interns for a ten week internship this fall. Interns will partner with each other to plan and perform storytimes for preschoolers and toddlers in local daycares. Training will be provided.
Applicants should be currently enrolled in either a Library Science program or an Early Childhood Education program. Applicants should have reliable transportation.
Interns will work 10 hours a week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 9:00-Noon on two days; 9-12:30 on one day. The internship will begin on Sept. 23 and will end on Dec. 4, with a break during Thanksgiving week. The internship pays $12 an hour.
